VR@POLITO at Festival della Tecnologia
On the 160th anniversary of its foundation, from November 7 to November 10 2019, Politecnico di Torino will organize the first edition of the Festival della Tecnologia (https://www.festivaltecnologia.it/), four days of public meeting – free to all – to discuss, with an accessible language and in an interdisciplinary manner, the relationship between technology and society and to strengthen the dialogue between academia and society.
On November 8, starting from 9.00 am the VR@POLITO hub at the Department of Control and Computer Engineering (DAUIN) will be showcasing some of its research activities concerning innovative applications of virtual and augmented reality in key areas encompassing industry, health and medicine, autonomous systems, etc.
In particular, four exhibits will be organized:
- Applications of virtual and augmented reality for robotics and Industry 4.0
- Holo-BLSD: An augmented reality-based tool for training first-aid operators
- Creating three-dimensional animations with virtual reality
- Driving simulation for autonomous vehicles in virtual reality
These four exhibits will be organized at the second floor of the footbridge on Corso Castefildardo, which hosts the research laboratories of the DAUIN Department.
On November 9 (from 3.00 pm) and Novembre 10 (from 10.00 am), 2019, the hub at the Department of Structural, Geotechnical and Building Engineering (DISEG) will be hosting three more exhibits on:
- BIM and virtual reality to support fire safety engineering
- Multi-sensorial experience in virtual reality for health
- Virtual reality for the Mastrlab laboratory
These three exhibits will be hosted at the fifth floor of the DISEG Department.
