VR@POLITO for the DAUIN Ph.D. Day 2020
VR@POLITO for the DAUIN Ph.D. Day 2020
In the last years, the Department of Control and Computer Engineering (DAUIN) used to organize the Ph.D. Day, a physical event in which MS’s students and any other interested party could meet Ph.D. students enrolled in the Computer and Control Engineering curriculum and have a discussion on cutting-edge research activities and results. Ph.D. students were also available to answer more general questions on their Ph.D. experience.
The organization of the event has been jeopardized by the current pandemic time (and social restrictions). However, thanks to the expertise and effort of the VR@POLITO staff as well as of other professors and researchers at DAUIN, the Ph.D. Day 2020 has been transformed into a virtual event.
Participants will be allowed to interact with Ph.D. students in Mozilla Hubs, a 3D virtual collaboration platform. Mozilla Hubs runs in the browser and also supports immersive Virtual Reality (VR) experiences.
The VR@POLITO selected this platform in order to foster and recreate, also through VR, the social features and interaction possibilities at the core of the in-presence event.
The virtual event will be held on December 2, from 17:00 to 18:30.
Participation is open to everyone. The event is free and no registration is required.
