Virtual reality for training Air Force personnel on NATO procedures
On October 1 and 2, 2019, the VR@POLITO of Politecnico di Torino and Fondazione LINKS, with the support of the the Italian Air Force, will participate to the TOXIC TRIP 2019, an event promoted by NATO to potentiate the interoperability of national air forces in a transnational perspective. At the event, a virtual reality-based tool supporting the training of personnel involved in Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) defense procedures will be showcased.
The above tool represents a key milestone in the Cooperation Agreement signed on December 2018 among Politecnico di Torino, LINKS, and the 3rd Wing of the Italian Air Force deployed at Villafranca di Verona, which is aimed at exploring and exploiting the potentiality of virtual reality and related technologies as a training means, with specific reference to NATO and emergency procedures.
